High schools and colleges don’t teach kids or young adults how to file taxes, the importance of planning for retirement, how to budget their money or how stretch the dollar when necessary. As well as many other areas of finance that just don’t get taught.
It’s no surprise then that people struggle so much with their money. We’re assaulted with “buy now, pay later” everywhere we go. Having tons of debt is often considered a good thing because it builds up your credit. We have to hire experts to explain how taxes work or how to invest into the stock market or pay a broker to do everything for us. Self reliance and self confidence is a thing of the past.
Or is it? I say gone are the days when we need people to tell us how to manage our money. Money isn’t that hard to understand. It’s just buried under a lot technical mumbo jumbo meant to confuse us and make us scratch out heads and fight off a headache from too many technical terms.
